i've lived in my place 5 years and never used my dishwasher, not even as a drying rack.
I think one time I did temporarily put something really weird in there, just to store it, like a hoodie or something.

Yes but then you have to wash dishes in the oven and store your silverware in the toaster.

My mom did that for years until they got new cabinets and just did away with the dishwasher altogether. I never asked if the dw was broken or not.
Was it the chopper? I've had to replace mine a couple of times now.

I've been in the guts of my dishwasher way too many times. Kept it going for a long time, though. Finally, the control board gave out. Not just a cheap repair there. Might as well buy a new machine. Haven't gotten around to that yet.
