Is polevaulter Duplantis the most dominant athlete in sports history?
I just checked betting markets (bet365) for the olympics and swedish-american polevaulter Armand Duplantis is 1.03 (-333
it's not really close at all
average EPL (which is highest paying soccer league) salary is under $5M
average NBA salary is around $12M
also don't need to deal with fans throwing Nazi salutes and bananas onto the pitch
Ah yes let's pick exactly the measurement that fits your preference the best. Let's not pick what sport has all the highest paid guys, to see what sport has the highest paid guys. Or what sport has the biggest number of millionares or something. Let's pick exactly "which one league pays the best" ok m8 super fair selection.
Soccer has all the highest paid guys in the world. Soccer has the most millionare salaries in the world. Soccer is the most popular sport in the world, and it has the most money in the world.
And I don't even ****ing like soccer but americans sure can be blind.
quite a bizarre rant
you'd think an average salary of the top sports league would be a good indicator, but no, let's count the total number of fans (or a total number of contracts and not an average contract)
cricket is nearly as popular as soccer, lmk when cricket players start making 9 figures/year
and those silly top 10 lists aren't 80% bball/foootball players only bc of cap restrictions
you do know what salary cap is, don't you?
Both Lebron and Curry would make $150M+ from salary alone on the open market, and another handful 100+, likely half a dozen football QBs as well
but I understand, you're just upset you don't currently reside in the only country in the world that matters
I too, was an unwashed euro for the first 22 years of my life, but then I saw the light
it's not too late to bend the knee
USA USA USA
(It's Tiger Woods.)

I'm not American.
Soccer is also a lot more competitive as more places play it. And contracts aren't as long as they are in baseball, for example.
On your list really the only relevant soccer player is Mbappe. The rest have gone to joke leagues as their careers wane.
there was also that soviet wrestler who won approx 800 matches in a row before some unknown yank ended him
Karelin. I was there when he lost in 2000.
It's worth going into the well to read up on his life. He's basically an action movie villain. He was so dominant that he'd win entire competitions without fighting because even the other heavyweight wrestlers were scared to fight him
Don Bradman is by far the most statistically dominant athlete of all time. it isn't even close.
his career batting average is 99.94. the second highest statistically robust career batting average is Herb Sutcliffe's 60.73...only 60.7%
the baseball equivalent - the second highest career batting average is.358. for Ty Cobb to be as dominant, his career batting average would need to be .600, instead of .366
Jahangir Khan's winning streak can be argued to be even more impressive than Ed Moses IMO
He won 555 matches in succession over 5 and a half years. Moses' streak was of course almost twice the length but was 4.5x fewer in terms of races
Duplantis is incredible though
idk man, sounds like a bunch of dudes who can't run and jump as fast as lebron
true that
Thanks for the tip ... just watched the Karelin loss. He didn't seem his usual ferocious self. Partly I'm sure because Gardener was too big and strong to dominate. But it was oddly muted attack by Karelin. He was suddenly old and up against a mountain. Then I watched the Gable loss for good measure. Amazing, he was 5 points down, took the lead, but lost on a late take down/near fall.
Old man Cuban Wrestler with 5 straight Golds over 20 years would wrap his pinky around his pole and snap it... but Lebron GOAT to ever live seriously.
cuban Mijain Lopez Nunez amazing too.
winning gold again this year at 41 , wow.
5th straight in 5 different Olympics !
and the last time he competed was ..in the last Olympics lol...
opps txdome beat me to it . well done 😀
second one ever to do it I'd guess? Redgrave won his 5th successive rowing gold in 2000. Boring spectator sport rowing. You only can really see who's winning for the 100m before and after they pass you.
man o man
6.3 meters

The **** is a meter?
Roughly how close the 9ers were to winning Super Bowl LVIII
an interesting article for those of you who appreciate some Mondo porn
Why do you say that? If soccer was the only sport in USA#n where you could make millions of dollars per year, all of the athletes that play in the NBA, American Football, Hockey and the MLB would be playing it.
If that's a bad take, where are all of the athletes from soccer dominated countries, playing the big 4 sports in Murica#1?
I'll concede baseball maybe, but I'll need to see a list of soccer dominated countries playing at any significant level in the other 3.
