how does the us think letting israel level beirut prevents a bigger middle east war? lol

They don't.

ya they are already at war. Hezbollah has been taking out air defense, tanks, batteries and barracks for months. Israel has been bombing hospitals, farmers, and random cars during this time.

this would just be an escalation.

by Victor

by aid, do you guys mean the absolutely insane amount of bombs and ammunition?

the US hasnt pulled any of this type of "aid". they slowed one shipment for a like 5 minutes.

they arent trying to "stop Israel from doing what it wants to do in Gaza". they are fully on board with everything and have been facilitating as best they can.

No one claimed that the US pulled any support.

by 72off

yeah i know, but they're saying they don't want a big middle east war, yet all their actions say i am so horny for ww3

Why would this be confusing though?

Where are you all coming up with this stuff?

What actions is USA taking which indicate USA is "horny for ww3?"

by essentially saying we will not stop israel from invading lebanon, we will not stop them from carpet-bombing beirut, etc. that will lead to a bigger regional war

How do you think USA should stop them?

not my job, man

by metsandfinsfan

You do realize that Lebanon has been firing rockets at Israel nonstop for months, and 60000 residents in the north have fleed

So if Israel retaliate, does that mean that they are starting a war in your opinion? That doesn't add up to me

"retaliate" as if Israel isn't also firing shots at Lebanon.

Ah well, on to the next death orgy.

by Bluegrassplayer

How do you think USA should stop them?

Maybe stop giving them bombs? Maybe flex them military superpower shits?

by 72off

not my job, man

Whose job is it to explain your opinions then, man?

by Trolly McTrollson

Maybe stop giving them bombs?

Netanyahu claimed this happened, I believe him.

Maybe flex them military superpower shits?

What does this mean?

by Bluegrassplayer

Netanyahu claimed this happened, I believe him.

lmao

Why would Netanyahu claim this, post a video on it which further drove a wedge between him and Biden, and risk becoming further ostracized over his comments if it weren't true?

Provoking Russia in Ukraine, assassinating Iranian generals, running ships through the south China sea-- plus when has there ever been a war they haven't creamed their pants over?

USA did not provoke Russia to attack Ukraine. (Feel free to move this to Ukraine thread to discuss it. Although last time you did a 72off, stating this clearly false premise then refusing to back it up with an argument.)

Running ships through the South China sea is not only legal, but helps prevent a WW3 type scenario. (Feel free to move this to China thread to discuss it.)

USA is not creaming their pants over this war, or the war in Ukraine, or Syria, or Yemen, or Myanmar...

Ukraine/Russia stuff is for the Ukraine/Russia thread please

You know, I was a little upset when I saw that after an entire month of not posting, you just came straight into this thread and the Ukraine thread and was back to business as usual. Not one post saying "I am back. I missed you guys!" Nothing! I hope that you had a fun, or at least productive month when freed up from posting here. You mentioned that you like to learn and dev

Please leave the thread until 12:00 AM ET, thanks.

Now that it is after 12am, let me go ahead and say that I don't see how you or anybody else could possibly find anything objectionable in my post welcoming Victor back. Legitimately bewildered with this one.

I think you have an extremely naive understanding of the situation. American (mostly defensive) weapons are how we control Israel to mostly play defense against all its Islamist enemies. Without our involvement Israel would have to be much more aggressive offensively and the scale of death, destruction and bloodshed on all sides would be astronomically higher.

Then again, maybe you think it would be better to just get it all over with. Let Israel and its enemies fight to the literal death and then whoever wins wins and it is done.

by Bluegrassplayer

Whose job is it to explain your opinions then, man?

It’s certainly not his job to answer questions you have

Regardless of my (allegedly incorrect) judgment regarding your sincerity based on your posting history, that comment was not appropriate for this thread, and if you had a personal message for someone you have the option of private messaging.

Everyone else should be aware that low content posting to troll others will be moderated. Personal comments are not appropriate for this thread. Thank you.

Cool, I never said it was.

IMO if someone wants to express an opinion they should be willing to back it up with an argument for their opinion. If I ask a very simple question which would help explain their argument and they refuse to answer then that's on them, not me. If he thinks that expanding on his opinions in order to have a reasonable dialogue is a "job" then he's probably butting into the wrong conversations.

Maybe my expectations are unrealistic and this is just a place where people can claim things and not be expected to show their work, if so then that's fine. Doesn't mean I shouldn't ask them.

You have to have a seriously jaundiced eye to believe that I was trolling Victor with that post. You have to be a special type of cynic to believe that my innocuous "welcome back" post was inappropriate. I get that I am not posting about "death orgies" or whatever passes for appropriate in this thread, but this is just absurd.

were you born yesterday? he obviously doesn't give a **** about alienating the brandon admin, who will never refuse him anything. he wants to drag all of this out past november in the hopes that he can help trump win the election, and maybe indefinitely so he can stay out of prison.

why do you think that black lady spokesperson said that the us has no idea what he's talking about, and reiterated that the only thing they've done this entire time was temporarily delay one shipment of those 2000 lb bombs (when israel didn't even need them because they were invading rafah at the time)?

In 1999, the US government signed a commitment to provide Israel with at least US$2.7 billion in military aid annually for ten years; in 2009 it was raised to $3 billion; and in 2019 raised to a minimum of US$3.8 billion.

Since the start of Israel's war with Hamas on October 7, 2023, the United States has enacted legislation providing at least $12.5 billion in military aid to Israel, which includes $3.8 billion from a bill in March 2024 (in line with the current MOU) and $8.7 billion from a supplemental appropriations act in April 2024.

The U.S. president stated it would halt the shipment of bombs to Israel if a "major invasion" of Rafah were launched, stating, "Civilians have been killed in Gaza as a consequence of those bombs". Less than a week later, however, Biden notified Congress about a $1 billion arms sale to Israel.

every month the only question is: how many $billion you want?

72off: sincerely, thanks for answering.

Why does Netanyahu want to alienate someone who is willing to give him whatever he wants?

Why does Netanyahu want to drag this out until Trump gets elected if Biden is willing to give him whatever he wants anyways?

i'm not gonna waste my time doing this all day man, what do you want?
