It is funny to me how whenever you watch a poker tournament, the commentary is obsessed with how much money each place makes, and in make cases this factors heavily into discussion of strategy on individual hands. Whereas the individual prizes in major golf tournaments, which are actually much larger than almost any poker tournament outside the WSOP Main event, is almost entir
That's more about how poker is about the MONEY and not the title, and unlike golf where anyone in what'd be a high ICM situation is already rich enough where they could retire tomorrow if they wanted, there's usually a situation in poker where the money has significant implications for at least one player
If sponsors did fund a prize pool it would be as part of an invitational structure like LIV Golf.
The last time I watched live poker on TV was when Greg Merson won the ME. It was absolutely unwatchable. Every hand was some miserable 5+ minute tank for no damn reason. Nobody wants to see this. Even with time bank chips.

Personally that's the big problem I have with tv poker . The constant tanking makes tournament poker unwatchable.
