I mean he has 200 at 1/3... you have AQ on a drawy board where he has some FDs OESDs and weaker AX. You're never folding once it goes HU w/o a soul read.

Of course not. Never folding, but I have to give the option to see if others would. (Especially considering V thought I should. LOL.)

What was the result? He had Ace Ace?

I already posted results: I checked, he shoved, I called. He hadTh9h, MHIG.

I said the players will call w/ any suited K -- I meant pre-flop. He's better/tighter than most of those guys (but not by much).

Loose vs tight is referring to their preflop VPIP%. You cannot be a tight player who VPIPs with K2s+ right? Idk man, youve got 12k posts so i assume youd know this, so ive got no clue what you mean by tight here. Not trying to be pedantic.

Sorry, by "tight" I meant they don't do anything w/o the nuts, but yes, they are mostly loose/passive pre and they will often call to draw if it's cheap. Most of these guys limp/call w/ AKs. They might raise w/ AA. Of course, they very, too -- not all exactly the same. LOL. One 86-year-old guy raises pre all the time to $7 or $11. One guy won't play a hand unless it's JJ+, and then he'll limp.

Does that help?

I was thinking about this hand as I was playing 2/5 last night, trying to figure out when I should value bet and when I should check to induce a bluff or too-thin value bet.

It seems most of the local 2/5 player pool just doesn't bluff enough on the river when an opponent slows down and checks after betting flop and turn, perhaps why I would prefer a check here. I lost value on a few hands by checking rather than betting.

Never paid much attention to it at 1/3, though I do remember doing a lot more check-calling and check-raising than I'm doing now.

Yes it helps. I think your terminology isnt quite right, which may cause people to give you bad advice in hands. I would say thats the standard loose (loose vs tight refers to preflop range) passive (this is their general aggression level both pre and postflop, so passive means they dont do anything unless they have the nuts) player, which also tend to be fit or fold (so if they whiff the flop they fold to a cbet) calling stations (if they do hit anything they call it down far too wide). Seems like you know most of this, but just making sure!

I gave a pretty accurate description of the Villain, and that's really all that matters, but thanks for the advice.

Next time I'll be sure to write, "some of them are tight, some are loose passive, some are fish, some are OMCs, some call down light, some call pre w/ KXs, some only raise w/ AA, some do it all, etc." 😉

People will complain it's too much to read.
