Planet Hollywood poker room closing

The Planet Hollywood Resort poker room will close permanently July 11.

A Caesars Entertainment spokesperson confirmed the closure in an email and referred players to other Caesars properties.

“Guests may visit the nearby poker rooms at Bally’s Las Vegas, Flamingo Las Vegas and Caesars Palace,” the spokesperson said.

Damnit muck you beat me by 20 minutes!

Honestly not surprised- during the big free roll they had last year everybody who was grinding hours there did not think it would last long unless they kept doing big promos to keep people there.

The location coupled with the $3 promo drop every hand for only $50 was absolutely insanely bad. I did play one great game there during WSOP thanks to three huge whales but other than that the room sucked.

Was there for the circuit at the beginning of the month. Seemed like there was maybe 1 cash game at best going. Too bad.

Rebuys have definitely hurt the side gsme action around most tournament series.

I played there one time and that was too much. I've never cared less about losing $300 just so I could leave

Someone thought it was a good idea to change their NL to 1-1 $100. That didn't last long as players created a list and got a 1-3 NL game going anyways on their own.

Weren't they only getting a very small number of tables during wsop? Should have just closed up shop in the summer.

I knew a few people who worked there during series to pick up some extra work. Best I could gather Caesars rounded up some people with ambition and maybe a regular local player list to manage and run the room and see if they could get some sparks flying. I went late summer and after, most I ever saw was 4-5 games and dealers sitting on empty tables. Location in the casino was bad and logistically probably less favorable than similar options.

I enjoyed my time in this room during 2025 WSOP. Granted, a few of the dealers were new and needed help, but were pleasant enough. It didn't hurt matters that the games were good...over six sessions and 27 hours, I made $2, 360 in the room.

There was some fat bearded bald dealer always running players off with his rules. He also smelled like salami and tuna.

No surprise at all. I'm assuming that drooler Diesel is looking for another job?

He will do his best to keep the riff raff out no matter where he ends up.

That's baloney! The report was that he smelled like feet and baloney(bologna).

I truly believe Rice/El D hastened the demise of the Planet Hollywood poker room with his antics and appearance.

From my experience (2 weeks November, 2 weeks December and 1 week in January) the room had primarily promo grinders playing for the 2x per week player appreciation tournament. They would clock out at the 12 or 15 hours needed and go to the next property to chase the $150 "promo" money.

When the tables were situated on the 1st floor near the pleasure pits, the games were always jamming in the late hours on weekends.

My guess on the next rooms to close in order are:

Westgate
Mandalay Bay
Resorts World
MGM

Would be really surprised if 3 of the 4 are open 1/1/2027.

This place closing again? They built a nice room up there, but what was the point? Who was going to play up there out of the way of everything? I played a bunch at the old down stairs room.

MGM is probably going strong. I have no idea how Westgate has always kept a 1 table room Mandalay bay should survive if Luxor and Excalibur don't have poker.

I hate seeing poker rooms in Las Vegas closing, but this one is hardly a surprise. The location made it impossible to get any foot traffic, and they would have been better off just slamming down 7-8 tables in the old location.

The dealers also seemed a bit confused when I played there a bit the past summer, and that's even without encountering the buffoon from the Vlog-thread.

RW has sponsorships for many years to come so their room is not closing, at least for a while. So does MGM. The rest I am surprised still exist

Tell us more about these poker room sponsorships. I don't remember seeing any Bud Lite or UPS signs the last time I was in RW.

RW has a deal with PokerStars for their NAPT series for a couple of years, so as long as they have the series they will also have a room.

yeah but they don't even play the NAPT in the poker room, they use the conference center upstairs

I don't think MGM is closing any poker rooms, they haven't since covid. MB is the only one at risk but that strange location corners the market so feels safe.

MB room is closed on Tuesdays and unlike other rooms is closed at times every day (during non-busy hours). They probably get less business than Excalibur did when it was open.

MGM Grand is much busier.

MGM seems to regularly stay decently busy.
