Hard to follow, but I think this is what the actin is:
V1 is UTG and opens 2x. Then V2 in CO re-raises a little over 3x and its back to you on BB. You have JJ in BB with 37 BBs.
You are covered by both Vs in a PKO. I am assuming minimal ICM here. Readless, I think I pile, but its close. A fold could be justified. I think given the PKO you will get some looser calls and have a chance to have a very nice stack.
Stage of the tournament definitely matters - but I'll add that the blinds/antes seem high enough that we may be in ICM-relevant territory.
Thank you for your answers. It was the end of day 1, ITM and 300 left from 12k players. I was wondering if we ever shove here or is it just call or fold.
It would be much better to put it in 2+2 format. I think UTG+1 opened, SB 3 bet and we look down at JJ, and possibly we are at around 40BB. It does depend on the stage of the tourney etc, but in the majority of situations I'm not letting JJ go here, but I am mucking 99.
no, UTG/7 opens and CO 3-bets.
I think I like 4-bet or fold, not really a fan of call unless you think they're gonna play super face-up postflop. I feel like calling might just result in you folding 5BB pre.
On the other hand, I'm definitely worried about the 3-bet in a PKO from the CO, where absent any other information, he's 3-betting a covering stack raising under the gun. That's the spot you least want to isolate someone in a PKO. Unless he's a wild player or otherwise takes weird/bad lines, I'd expect him to be really nutted here and with very few bluffs at that.
Well, I've talked myself more and more out of playing this hand. Maybe flat is OK. You could also 4-bet/fold without shoving.
On the one hand, if you shove, you are more likely in a PKO to get called by something like TT-88. On the other hand... CO's line is essentially cutting himself off from winning any bounties, and I think the only reason to do that is to try to induce the big stack to get it in vs. AA-KK (maybe AKs). So... the information is thin, but I wouldn't hate just getting rid of it and moving on. Maybe flatting, but then you have to pray you hit a set, or the flop has no A/K and CO checks back.
Thank you Nath for your detailed answer!
Calling def sucks - either jam or fold. If you play these stakes regularly you should have a better feel for where people are at in these spots.
