I saw Nickleback in concert before they got famous. Some friend of mine had a ticket. I always thought they were...fine?

Thank you, filthy. I'll let you know tomorrow if I'm also glad. I still have enough leftovers to make a second plate if anyone wants to actually come by.

You are in the middle of nowhere. How far is it from you to the nearest wheat field.

A stone's throw

I'm thinking of going to Alaska for a vacation

I'm thinking of going to Alaska for a vacation

I'm going for all of June and maybe July.

From what

I feel like I've done the majority of the traveling I will ever do. I would cruise Alaska tho.

I'll stop after this, but, fried tofu with stirfried broccoli and a sauce of mirin, orange juice, orange marmalade, soy sauce, wasabi powder, and garlic.

wow sick! I was thinking of just 2-3 weeks or something. tell me more. is it something you do regularly? why so long?

I was thinking of going soonish, but idk what the weather will be like. I'm assuming it's not too bad in April. but wtf do I know?

from civilisation! from humans!

I been staying in airbnbs in San Diego to help someone. but just on a whim I was looking at airbnbs in Alaska, and they are way cheaper! and nicer! I don't have a home right now. so I was thinking I could just stay in a cabin in Alaska where it's absurdly beautiful and peaceful, and relatively cheap. or maybe the Yukon.

oh and I only went on one cruise, and it was to Alaska, and it was the best trip of my life! i've talked about it a bunch in here though. I just recommend making sure your ship goes to glacier bay. only some go, and that was the highlight.

I'm in KC...but the nearest cowfield that I know of is about 30 minutes away if I take the highway. It bumps right up next to one of the wealthiest suburbs in the Midwest.

Oh, city girl. The parts of Kansas I've been in were composed entirely of fields of hard red wheat and signs telling you about damnation and hell and things.

That's kind of like me saying the parts of Texas I've been to are completely composed of highways with signs advertising nude dancing clubs (which would be kind of true if I judged it based upon just driving through Dallas without stopping--but I grew up in Houston.) ;-)

I wasn't claiming it was an accurate assessment.

Never been to Houston either. The worst city in Texas I visited was Lubbock. The whole city is a bland suburb of nothing, and is composed entirely of strip malls and quiet desperation.

everything's up to date in Kansas City. they've gone about as far they can go

the commanche took over Austin once.

driving through west Texas was not pretty. and it's quite large

people in Austin didn't mind me too much, but the rest of Texas was not really feeling me

I've never been. It's one of five states I haven't been to, so it's been high on my list for a while. As far as how long, monthly rates are better, plus the number 2 goal is to escape the Texas heat for as long as possible. Also, I'm retired and have spent the last year+ working on the house and being lazy in equal measure, so it's time to get out and about. Also, why the hell not?!

My uncle is a huge wildlife guy who lived there for years as a Fish and Wildlife employee, so he's advising me on things to do. My younger brother is also going, so it should be a really good time. Nothing I love more than being away from it all in nature and seeing cool wildlife. Plan for now is to book a month and decide after a couple of weeks whether we want to extend for another month. Very much looking forward to it. Next up, hopefully, Africa to see all the critters there.

wow sounds amazing! and you have good info from your uncle.

yeah the one time I went, was literally the best trip I ever took.
