The "LOLCANADA" thread...again
So what's new?
I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet
What specific policy where you hoping that Trudeau or Carney or whoever implemented to control grocery prices? There was a bit of sabre rattling and extra scrutiny which may have put some downward pressure on grocery CEOs to exorbitantly price gouge during that period, or maybe it was neutral. But I don't think any of you are NDP supporters with their plan to make a government public option for grocery stores, so what exactly did you want?
Regardless, food price inflation HAS come down significantly from that period.
If anyone ever needed another reason to ignore anything you ever said it’s your last post.
You are so insanely detached from reality at this point one can only assume you’re being deliberately stupid.
It’s def not your intelligence. STEM professors generally speaking aren’t idiots.
1) Pablito makes a false statement
2) Uke links the data that it is false
3) Pablito doesn't engage the data or point in any way, and just goes for baseless insults
4) Bonus points for mentioning yet again that I'm a professor
Rinse and repeat.
Oh hey the IMF (who cares about them) thinks Canada has the strongest fiscal position of the g7: https://financialpost.com/news/economy/i...
I'm not saying everything is rosy and perfect. But it also isn't all gloom and doom.

1. Pablito makes a statement most of Canada agrees with.
2. Uke denies reality and inserts nonsense
3. Pablito scratches his head questioning whether or not the professor is even Canadian or lives in Canada.
While I have 0 respect for your world views I sincerely hope you believe me when I say I respect the fact youÂ’re a professor. I value education a lot.
Edit: I quoted your post when it said “insulting you for being a professor”. There’s nothing to insult about being a professor. That’s a very respectable job.

Sometimes I find Canadians don’t actually realize how good they have it,'
Hahahaha. Say that to the 2.2m food bank visitors a month or to the parents who cant send their kids to school with lunch.
I posted the link to the accurate GDP data that didn't support your statement. How exactly is this me denying reality?
I keep trying to steer the conversation to concrete and specific facts that might support your hyperbolic claims, but it seems you have almost no interest in engaging in the specific facts, and prefer to just gloss over any such details.
Hahahaha. Say that to the 2.2m food bank visitors a month or to the parents who cant send their kids to school with lunch.
Can both things be true at the same time? Like here we have the IMF laying out the case for why Canada has the strongest fiscal position in the g7. This is the kind of macroeconomic data I'm referring to that pushes back at your hyperbolic claims of how bad Canada's economy is. But it is ALSO true that there remain non-trivial problems, and I'm 100% with you on saying that income inequality and food price inflation are particularly acute.
For the record, I supported most of Trudeau era moves that wealth transferred more to lower income people such as increased CCB and 10 a day daycare and income tested dental care etc etc etc. I'd argue we should go further. I'm still not 100% sure where you are on the political spectrum, and whether you think government should do more or less of these types of things. But I think you have to move past the phase of grabbing onto the most negative datapoints and claiming treason while ignoring everything positive.
Another Trudeau policy gone by Carney
Home mail delivery I think it was Harper that was getting rid of it
Good job Harper 2.0

Yes because Carney eliminated the carbon tax
No, the reduction in inflation in food prices was largely irrelevant of the carbon tax. It did have a one-time drop off in a single quarter (or perhaps some small bleeding into a subsequent quarter) but the month after month reduction in food prices only had a small portion due to the carbon tax. This was theoretical before it was removed, but after it has been removed we now have the various economic studies I linked to previously in this thread that conclusively demonstrate it wasn't anywhere near as big a deal as you and your buddy poilievre acted like it was.
And of course all that tax was rebated at 90%, a point you never quite seem to internalize.

Yet no one can show how you come to that calculation . As a math professor you understand the requirements of showing your work

The PBO verified that 90% of the money received from the tax was indeed rebated, as required by law. Not even Poilievre himself questions this. Bizarre that you still are convinced otherwise.

I thought that was very weak on Pierre's part he should have pushed that issue as rumors have it the calculations would show it was a lie
Like your 90% figure you fail to say the folks on the federal plan as you left out two heavily populated provinces
You never answered were you rank Trudeau as a PM just as you never answered what supporting the alphabet folks means
It’s not just poilievre, I’ve never heard a single MP question that the law of a 90% rebate, as verified by the PBO, was not followed. It’s pure conspiracy theory with no basis. Mo wonder nobody but you talks about it.
I repeatedly answered both those questions for you in the past. Did you forget and need me to retype out answers I’ve previously given or can you search and find them?

Yety you still have never shown me the average numbers they used to calculate . I had e-mailed the PBO and environment minister twice with the same question and no answer
You never answered either question and challenge you to post the answers to both questions that you gave
No, that is a different calculation. The "average numbers" thing is nothing about whether 90% is rebated - as required by law - but about the PBOs estimates about the amount of people who were net beneficiaries of the tax-and-rebate system. That you are conflating these two things demonstrates a profound confusion about what your conspiracy even is.
But I DID answer it. You kept up with this point so a few months ago I actually spent like 45 minutes reading through methodology stuff. It's not easy. I did a whole summary for you basically demonstrating the type of model they are using and why "average numbers" was a vastly more complicated model then the simple inputs you were trying to guestimate about average family driving distance and the like.
And you didn't engage with it at all.
So I've done my bit.
Lutnick is so annoying.

On the U.S. side, there are suggestions that Canada should try to get Trump’s attention by making an immediate concession, especially since the president is juggling several major issues right now.
However, Canadian sources said they have twice offered concessions to the U.S. administration without receiving anything in return.
In March 2025, U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick compared negotiations with the United States to purchasing a Costco membership: You have to pay before you can shop.
Behind the scenes in Ottawa, however, it has been pointed out that once they've paid for a membership, Costco customers aren't then asked to pull out their wallet again just to walk down the meat aisle.

Not a chance yes Canada needs the USA but the USA needs Canada . The ships are lined up for the oil heading to the west coast right now and its reported TNX is at full capacity. They need our potash and Uranium
The ships are lined up for the oil heading to the west coast right now and its reported TNX is at full capacity.
Worth noting that TMX's capacity is not fixed. Because projections prior to the Iran war were that it would NOT be a full capacity for a couple more years, there are two major upgrades in the next couple years planned that dramatically increase the amount of oil you can get through it. The bigger one (more pumping stations) was originally scheduled for 2029 but now being moved forward into 2028. Conservatives online seem to be utterly unaware of these details.

It's a current capacity of course you can increase it
Yes us Conservatives are so unaware we still think men can't have babies
are we actually ok with the libs getting a majority goverment with floor crossings? seems a lil fed up. im pretty ok with it because it will mean they won't have an excuse next election and their 14 reign of terror will end. but also like people talk alot about "mandates" we literally didn't vote for a liberal majority we voted for a liberal minority. 3 people changing partys will decide 3 years of policy. im a big believer in balance. I think the libs should be in power sometimes. just not all the time. You need to see saw back and forth.

This is such a great example of how you will take any topic - oil pipeline expansion in this case - and somehow segue it into being about your anti-trans agenda.
And it's one of those things where it's only a "gotcha" in your own little minds. Nobody is remotely confused about what "men can have babies" means - it is talking about biologically female people who identify as men having a baby. But in the conservative mind this is some awesome pwn the libs move to guffaw and guffaw about it that they interject the laughter into any and all conversations.
What has a trans person ever done to you personally that you feel so compelled to bring this up endlessly?
