Poker "Lost Media"
For the past couple of months, I've been reliving some old boom-era stuff from the 2000s, and I've been disturbed to find that some things seem to have simply disappeared completely.
I know this content must still exist out there in personal collections, and perhaps a thread like this can help it resurface?
First up: WSOP broadcasts
PokerGo now has just about everything ESPN WSOP on its channel (though the non-paywalled uploads of the 2003-2006 broadcasts are plagued by serious audio issues and episodes being annoyingly smooshed together in a "by day" format). Can't comment on the versions behind the paywall since I haven't seen them, but I hope they are of better audio quality?
One glaring omission is the WSOP 2005 Tournament of Champions. That's a shame because this one had some classic moments, like Dannenmann with the Christmas gifts and his tirade against Hellmuth. Matusow won a million for taking down this tourney, and yet it's almost like it never happened. I actually can't even find a single clip from this show.
Anybody have other examples of stuff that's disappeared?
weed brownies +200/400

James Vogl vs Dan Arieh (WSOP 2004), hero folding flush vs full house. I thought it was the sickest **** back in the day, but nowadays it might be just a decent spot.
YouÂ’re welcome.
Also, thanks for reminding me, and Thank God this still exists. Televised pokerÂ’s Hendrix at Monterey moment. CanÂ’t wait til I get home, and for the first time, I sincerely wish I could still drink.
Watch it from the beginning all the way through, just trust me.

Gavz's PLO videos from PokerSwat
James Obst's PLO videos from PokerSwat
Some of AEJones's NLH videos from IveyLeague
- Someone hero calling with a crap hand in an EPT in the 2000's knowing their opponent insta mucks if they were caught bluffing. Flips cards to show they called with a hand that could never win at showdown, player who was bluffing realizes he had the best hand and tries to retrieve it from the muck.
- Poker documentary that featured "leatherass" as the successful player and some other rando online kid who was wheeling a cart around because he was down so bad.
Sorry I don't remember the specifics of the above. Just remember searching for them and not being able to find them.

It was Tobias Reinkemeier check calling Roland de Wolfe on the river with Q high vs K high and getting him to muck lol
Yes dude!! What a sick hand hahhahaah

There's a load of this stuff available on YouTube, though I'm not sure it's the full library or how you'd even confirm what the full library was at this point.
Thank you Poker Gods for re-uploading the 200/400 Weed Brownies video!
So I now have a PokerGo membership, and am happy to report that the 2005 ToC actually IS on there, it's just not on YouTube (last I checked).
But I do have one concern, which is that PokerGo no longer offers the livestreams of the Main Event prior to 2024. All they have is the edited Norm/Lon "broadcast TV" version. Would hate for the streams to be lost forever, because (frankly) the commentary on the livestreams is often much more interesting and on a higher level, as well as being a more thorough documentation of the event. Obviously PokerGo still has those, wish they would leave them up!
Speaking of which (and many people probably don't even remember this), but the final table of the 2006 Main Event was actually broadcast in its entirety on pay per view (all 16 hours!), with Ali Nejad and Phil Gordon in the booth, along with rotating guests. I'm confident that this is almost certainly lost forever at this point. That would be super-interesting to watch though, because live poker commentary had pretty much never been done before. Anybody know if that still exists? I feel like there's gotta be some guy out there who still has his VHS recording of it...
Poker Lost Media...I'm pretty much the king of finding it and preserving it. Uploading most of it to archive.org
I've been pretty lazy with making a website to make things easier to find, but here are some highlights
A big chunk of the PokerRoad content
PokerRoad Radio main show.
Big Poker Sundays
Tips From The Bear
The Life of Ivey of videos
Inside the Poker Mind Videos
A pretty good selection of The Circuit podcast which eventually became PokerRoad
A have a few DVDs of trash "How To Play Poker" the best one being
My favorite find without a doubt was uploading the very first Mike Sexton Tournament of Champions VHS. That was one of my best finds by far that I bought and uploaded.
You'll find a lot of odd stuff from my youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/@dealeronetime just upscaled the "Tilt" series and the infamous movie "The Big Blind" and a ton more on my archive.org site https://archive.org/details/@thrifty_med... . Pretty sure I have near all of the videos that were ever uploaded to Phil Galfond's media site "Pokerstatic"

I have a feeling a lot of lost media will happen when PokerGo goes under. These are my white whales I hunt that I know exist but are lost.
The old Siruis/XM radio final table coverage of the 2003-2004 WSOP
2000-2002 coverage of final tables at Binions. I know some used to be on Google video before it went under.
The Full ESPN PPV video streams of Jamie Gold and Jerry Yang's WSOP final table. You have to watch the full stream to see how badly Jerry Yang bullied everyone, the edited show doesn't do it justice.
The lost ESPN WSOP stream archives. ESPN used to stream final tables in 2006 ESPN had the players play in special sequestered section with no audience. From that point forward they put on a delay and they used to stream like 30-50 events a year. You'd have the main stream with commentary then have one or two more without hole cards or announcing. All of them are gone, I know they exist somewhere. People used to torrent them, but that's all wiped not on PokerGo or anything.
The Quadjacks 24-30 hour stream of Black Friday. When Black Friday went down the whole poker world went on QuadJacks to drown their sorrows. Lots of pros calling in and just losing their minds. I know this was saved and torrented back in the day but haven't found it yet.

This is literally the one thing I want to find. They also had video for weeks after the initial 30+ hour stream. I still have Marco on FB, and obviously SRSLY, but what happened with the other guy? (zack/zach/zak). Didn't he end up kind of being a scumbag?
Also wondering where to find ALL of the episodes of the 2004 Poker Superstars Invitational Tournament, which was a series of SNGs where the players accumulated points. Literally sat and watched those matches for HOURS when poker was the hottest thing. I found 3 episodes on Youtube, but looking for all of them.
I totally forgot what sparked this for me. Go ahead and look at PokerNews YouTube. PokerNews deleted all of their boom poker content from 2005-2012. All the best pokernews girls wiped from the web. All their WSOP content from that time gone
I've definitely seen the 2005 WSOP TOC on YouTube, and I'm fairly sure it was on the PokerGo channel but I could be misremembering that second part.
AtariRob's post reveals my personal bit of lost media: the hard drives (both main and backup) that held every PokerRoad Radio, Big Poker Sunday, Poker Beat, All Strategy and Cash Plays episode pooped out on my last year.
Speaking of PRR, there was a funny episode in which Gavin Smith was super hammered that never ran. Justin Shronk said the file got corrupted or something like that, yet a bunch of people suspected some massive conspiracy that had Joe Sebok or Barry Greenstein not letting it out.
One clip I always want to see, but I doubt it was ever recorded in the first place: Phil Hellmuth calling off his stack against Carlos Mortensen, I believe on a queen-high flop. Mortensen had QJ or KQ. Hellmuth called with... QT. Yes, honey, he called with QT.
That video of Mike Matusow threatening to punch Shaun Deeb in the mouth on Poker Night in America
Poker Go YouTube has been posting a lot of the 05/06 HU NBC stuff
It’s strange how 03-08(?) or so they never put up the blinds or chip stacks, it almost makes it unwatchable l

Yes and lots of 06 and earlier content has "how to play texas hold em" sections in the broadcasts lmao.
One thing I've not seen in years (aside from a few very small clips on youtube like Devilfish winning his year) are the original late night poker shows from Channel 4 in the UK 1999-2002. I'm not talking about when they brought it back in 08, I mean strictly the og run.
These were classics as they showed the hole cards in every hand and paved the way for things like world poker tour in the US. They made stars out of people like Devilfish and Vicky Coren, definitely fuelled the poker boom in the UK in a huge way. Repeated ad naseum for several years after on satellite they now appear lost. I havent seen them available for decades.
The leatherass documentary mentioned earlier ITT I saw on a streaming service about 10 years ago, perhaps Netflix UK? It was interesting b/cos leatherass but not really that good tbh.
