Time for a dedicated thread to the war.

How long will it last and what will be the probable outcome?

Depends on the cause

and even if willing to die that doesn't mean willing to kill

Excellent point.

All right whats happening does he want to start a nuclear war or is he manipulating financial markets again?

I think it DOES mean that.

oh sweet summer child no

So, Trump painted himself into another TACO box by now threatening to destroy the infrastructure that the public uses if Iran does not open the Strait of Hormuz by 8PM eastern. If not, then Trump will punish the people themselves - the same people he said he would be helping when he originally attacked Iran???

In his last message Trump strongly hinted that the people need to revolt and overturn their own leaders if there is any chance to stop this. But then he notes that there has been a complete and total regime change (his words)?? Why did he assume a new regime (if there even is one), would be willing to work with the US?

Tucker Carlson is begging US leaders to convince Trump that his ultimatum attack would be immoral and urged leaders to disobey orders that would see civilian infrastructure destroyed.

Seems like 1D checkers.

Totally normal

Trump must be running out of red paint for all the red lines he has imposed and backed down from. Needs to be removed from office if he destroys civilian targets

Apparently Trump just bombed the chit out of Kharg Island. That handles around 90% of their oil exports and something Iran said is their line in the sand.

So yeah, while the negotiation deadline is underway, Trump just decimates their economic center, the very thing they said would escalate the situation.

All you bustos should tank up tonight.

IT shouldn't affect it too much. it was only 139 million a day. What will you use to cope now

What are you crying about?

They didn't hit docks or oil because they want to steal that. Probably a prelude for sending in boots.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged President Donald Trump to extend today's deadline for Iran by two weeks "to allow diplomacy to run its course."

Sharif also asked Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz for two weeks as a gesture of goodwill.

"We also urge all warring parties to observe a ceasefire everywhere for two weeks to allow diplomacy to achieve conclusive termination of war, in the interest of long-term peace and stability in the region," Sharif wrote on X.

Trump has fired everyone who would advise him to keep his mouth shut but at this point there’s mounting pressure for the US to finish the job. The rest of the ME doesn’t want to deal with Iran again in the future.

and what would that lead to? your so close. Ya im leaning into the camp that this is all bs to get an easier karg island invasion

Iran's Mehr news agency says no critical damage done, so that may have been a bit of theatre.

Nah man, I've been assured there would be no such thing as an invasion or boots on the ground.
Try to follow the conversation for once buddy.

Yeah, but haven't the same type of (1) US and Israel stop bombing for x number of days and (2) Iran open the Strait for x number of days ceasefire plans been pitched by others and rejected by both sides already? Also, is anyone going to send a ship into the strait, knowing all hell could break loose at any time and their ship would be stuck on the wrong side of the strait?

Also, not that I think the US should ever have been there, but a two week break still would cost the US tons of money because they can't recall any troops, ships, aircraft, etc during that time. They would have to maintain a high level of readiness the whole time.

Might have something to do with this:

UNITED NATIONS (AP) — Russia and China on Tuesday vetoed a U.N. Security Council resolution aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz that had been repeatedly watered down in hopes those two countries would abstain.

Mounting pressure from whom, dorks like you?

Probably more ******ed posts by you, I'm guessing.

I see. So now you trust Iran state media?

Kind of funny to see the liberals getting worked up about Trump threatening civilians. Meanwhile the Iranian government actually murdered 30k civilians and these same people didn’t even notice.

Boots on the ground coming anytime soon though?

I hear you. But it does satisfy Trump's demand to 'OPEN THE F'N STRAIT NOW!!!!! ALL HAIL SATAN!

I think you made that up. if you believed politicians not revealing their war plans. thats kind of on you man. I dont trust them when they talk about the weather let alone a ground invasion. Thats kind of a state secret

You're insane. Trump is threatening nuclear attacks on civilians, and you're cheering it on. Isn't not attacking civilians one of the things that is supposed to make America better than Iran?

by John21 m

Yes. He actually could get a win if Iran opens the straight for a ceasefire. He just has to say "we have accomplished all of our objectives and we are done with our military operation. We will be back immediately if even one US ship is unable to safely transit the strait."

If asked about the safety of transit for other countries, he could say "what reason would Iran have for targeting other countries? And, if Iran does, then the impacted countries can deal with it. We are heading home with all our goals met."

cliffs... get the strait open and quickly get out of town...

by ArcticKnight m

Also, is anyone going to send a ship into the strait, knowing all hell could break loose at any time and their ship would be stuck on the wrong side of the strait?

About 45 commercial vessels have transited the Strait since Friday. (Not many, as it used to be 100 a day, but not none either.)
