Well, there was the strange claim of 'near-total loss of mass' from the Twin Towers, despite the vast heap of rubble that took months to clear. Not sure what exotic theory that stemmed from.
The lack of rubble (predominantly dust remained) is one factor. The second is the necessary absence of resistance from inward buckling (that's the NIST conspiracy theory) to allow a near free-fall "collapse". See above for detailed description.
It does not come from "a theory". It comes from detailed analysis of photographs, video, eye witness reports and TV. It comes from the evidence.

There is a short list of questions I've not got to yet. But I get what you are really saying, that some PhDs did some solid work on the materials discovered in the dust and rubble of the WTC collapses, no one has debunked them, but that doesn't matter to you.
