my 7th round pick:

Scarlett and Gunnar from the TV show Nashville.

Loved the first season of this show when it was more about the music and less soap opera. And I remember this scene blowing me away when Claire Bowen and Sam Paladino performed this song. They actually had a fairly big hit from the show, "Fade Into You," which is the 2nd video below. But this song was the one that grabbed me.

The Wonders from That Thing You Do
Sam from Casablanca
Eddie & the Cruisers from Eddie and the Cruisers
The Commitments from The Commitments
The Ain't Rights - Green Room
School Of Rock - School Of Rock
Scarlett and Gunnar - Nashville

Phat Mac on the clock!

DETROIT METAL CITY, a band that started life as a manga and then was made into both anime and a live-action film.

Some consider it horror while some consider it comedy. I find it hilariously funny and want you to check it out, but note that it contains situations and lyrics that some westerners might find appalling.

The premise is that a Japanese singer-songwriter who wants to perform bubble-gum music gets roped into fronting a death metal band, using the stage name of Johannes Krauser II. He hates it and fights it, but finds himself increasingly enjoying adopting Krauser's personality.

just a guy singing and playing drums...

Ricky Ricardo was a bandleader on the show and he’s a great pick for you in the 7th round.

GEKIRIN is a band that records a song called Fish Story and then disbands. The movie Fish Story is about the song. It's an anthology movie -- sort of a cross between Tales of Manhattan and Ringu. The song is responsible for the birth of the punk rock movement and the complete obliteration of the planet Earth, along with the usual terrorist attacks on ferry boats, etc.

ok Mschu is skipped I'm up. Gimme a minute

And Mschu18 - fill out your picks to the spreadsheet

It looks to me like he’s quit the draft and erased all his picks. I filled them back in for our reference.

Mschu 18 picks so far:

The Rubber Band - Mel Blanc
Jan Pehechan Ho
Red Rocking Chair
Mothera
Plastic Jesus - Cool Hand Luke
Dueling Banjos
Ricky Ricardo

Round 8:

Ellen Aim & the Attackers - Streets Of Fire

Underrated cult film staring Diane Lane, Rick Moranis, Willem Dafoe, and my 2nd Michael Pare film! Weird.

Stylized Walter Hill movie about a rock star (Lane) who gets kidnapped by a gangster fan (Dafoe) and must be rescued by bad-good-boy Pare.

Cool flick.

Round 8
The Fabulous Baker Boys
- The Fabulous Baker Boys

There is no excuse for me not to have drafted this one sooner. This movie like the boys is fabulous! Real life brothers Beau and Jeff Bridges play the Baker Boys. A middling 2 piano lounge act. They decide to expand by adding a female singer and get Susie Diamond (Michelle Pfieffer) to join them which complicates a few things.

I love this movie and feel it is seriously underrated. It deserves the highest of praise and is totally enteraining and watchable on every level.

so far:
Otis Day and the Knights
Sweet Sue and Her Society Syncopaters
The Barden Bellas
Mitch and Mickey
Buddy Love
Jack Malik
Crucial Taunt
The Fabulous Baker Boys

I’m taking the music class from Class of 1984: Perry King, Tim Van Patten, Michael J Fox, and Keanu Reeves.

John has next two then me again. Writeups later.

I'm not sure why (I'm looking at you, Dom) this lasted so long. All You Need Is Cash was their first album, and the mockumentary was not a big hit when it was first released. All star cast of SNl players joined in the fun.

I might get overruled on this one because these two singers aren't necessarily fake, but they're not real either. Besides, I have two granddaughters who are just about past the age where they need babysitting and will sit down and watch movies with their grandfather.

So it was either this or an older one I watched countless times with my daughter.

OK by me,

I’d’ve never forgiven myself if I hadn’t remembered this one in time.

I’m taking The Acid Queen from Tommy.

Additional writeup later.

Round 9
Jeffster
- Chuck

You just gotta love Jeffster from the TV show Chuck! Jeff and Lester are Chucks 2 burnout co-workers who formed the band Jeffster. Jeffster pops up throughout the series from time to time but in this instance they are the heros. This is from the series finale and follows the old spy trope that the bomb will go off once the music stops. When the orchestra ended Jeffster stepped in to save the day buying time for the bomb to be diffused. I recently rewatched this entire series which is why this may be top of mind for me but the show holds up and is totally entertaining.

Otis Day and the Knights
Sweet Sue and Her Society Syncopaters
The Barden Bellas
Mitch and Mickey
Buddy Love
Jack Malik
Crucial Taunt

The Rutles were to be my final pick

The Rutles were to be my final pick

I have my final pick in mind, and I doubt anyone will take it. I might even be overruled.

I have to pick now. I am running out of time today.

I'm going to make my 10th round pick first for bragging rights--I got a sure Round 1 pick in the 10th.

Josie and the Pussycats!

I was like John, I couldn't imagine how I could think of enough picks, but this was the first one to pop into my mind.

This got here via the comic book -- cartoon -- live action route; I have to go with Hanna-Barbera as the best.

Another one that I was sure would be picked was...

Dewey Cox from Walk Hard.

I've got plenty more if someone has been sniped.

My 9th pick:

Nick Rivers from Top Secret!

Val Kilmer in his first starring role, and he's awesome. Funny, charming, hot, and he can sing!

Both of those were on my list but my list is looong. One more pick isn't enough as I will leave many draftables on the cutting room floor.

My 10th pick:

Jackson Maine and Ally Campana - A Star Is Born

I'm shocked this lasted so long...just a spectacular performance by Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga singing one of the biggest songs of the 21st century.
