Although really I’d put the blame on the GM. He did a bunch of media after they won about how smart they were with their picks and filling out the backend of the roster. Doesn’t look so hot now. Still pretty crazy to can them right at the end, feels like they’re conceding.
yeah i think malone is probably overrated as a coach, and the gm has done a poor job. the entire team is just jokic being a sicko. guess the firing is at least in part jokic being over him, unless it's a big thing like malone vs the gm or owner, or some big scandal

Seems to be the case in other sports too. You want to have really good teams without ever actually winning if you want to stay employed.
Sounds like issue was Malone and GM had opposing ideologies wrt developing young players vs maximizing wins (sounds like Warriors eternal problem). So ownership solution is to fire both, awesome
Don't care much for coaches usually and don't have a strong opinion on Malone's coaching abilities but he actually sounded like a cool dude to me

Over that stretch they have 3 guys averaging more than 20 a game, and Powell at around 15 on limited minutes. Zubac is at 20-12 on 65% shooting the past two months.
Cannot wait for them to go up 2-0 in the first round and Kawhis knee to explode!

That was LeBron's plan all along. He's playing 4D Chess out there.
And don't tell me he wasn't behind the trade for Luka. He once said he would love to play alongside him.. heck the whole trade was his idea I bet.
I believe he certainly had some influence. Obv it wasn't not ran by him before the trigger was pulled. The benefit for Lebron was obvious. They may or may not have gotten better this year but likely at least have a higher ceiling.
Then you have the next two years (at this point i need to see a severe injury to lebron before i feel he'll be done). He got a dude who can completely carry the load and let Lebromln rest when he needs to. Both have shown the ability to give great 5-6 minute spurts and be the best player on the court. Thats way for valuable than having AD, as good as he is. It takes immense pressure off Bron and extends his ability to play with his son as he develops.

Please no, I want to finally see Playoff Kawhi in action. He's one of my favorite players and I believe he's still underrated somehow. If they didn't have Harden and had someone similar who made smarter decisions I'd feel the Clippers would be a real team to reckon with. But I dont trust Harden, at all.
There's a far better chance that Harden goes 30/6/6 in the playoffs than the Lakers winning it all.

They aren't winning anything with Malone or without. They were on a terrible trajectory with him. He won a lot of games but was a bit over rated. Winning the championship gave him a couple extra years he wouldn't have had without it. He wore his welcome out and that's that. He lost the locker room. Malone and Boothe did nothing to boost a pathetic bench in the two years after the Championship. This was absolutely the right move by the owner. David Adelman seems to be a solid leader for this team going forward.
