Time for a dedicated thread to the war.

How long will it last and what will be the probable outcome?

We have peace in the Middle East!!!

most of the Iranian accounts I follow think they are getting played

Its a pretty good deal for Iran. Iran gets money, Lebanon is left alone, strait opens up, and the US gets some tabs on their nuke capabilities.

Iran edges out the win with this but I guess having Ali getting ass ****ed from women with spiky dildos for all eternity and a mutilated **** stain son has some value to it.

But Bibi will mess it all up.

“Lebanon left alone”? Do you think Israel is at war with Lebanon?

So punting on nukes with the everyone realizing how hard it will be for the US to go back in after getting embarrassed so badly. Add it to the massive llist of crap the next administration is going ti have to clean up from a much worse spot than Trump had one day 1.

Can't wait for Pakistan to get the peace nobel price!

The President is a lock to win this. Very well deserved.

You don’t always have to look at the negative side of things. This sounds like a great deal for the US given how angry the hardliners in Iran are.

right but Israel and the US have no intention of abiding by the deal. just like all other treaties they have signed going back hundreds of years.

seems they have softened a bit since this afternoon but they are highly skeptical.

three accounts that seem to echo sentiments from the non-liberals in Iran

Bottom line: USA will be only slightly worse off than we were before the war started.

Mark Levin gonna have a stroke if this deal goes through.

(Which it won't ofc because Bibi won't let it.)

Is Bibi supposed to just let Hezbollah fire rockets at them?

We're in this war because of Bibi. If Bibi won't comply Trump's requests, then Israel can fend for themselves and do what they want alone.

Iran obviously won't agree to a deal while Israel is attacking Hezballah (sic).

100% of this whole mess is because of Israel imo.

Yes, Bibi forced the world’s most powerful country to enter a war against their own wishes. It totally wasn’t because Trump listened to advisors like Marco Rubio who have wanted to go to war with Iran for their entire political career.

Why would Iran want to go to Switzerland to sign the deal? One would think it should be in Pakistan.

But, nothing seems to be as it should during the whole thing.

I want peace as much as the next person, but 5 days before signing seems about 4 days too long for any group who may like to trainwreck this deal.

I can see Hezbollah hitting Israel, Israel hitting back, and Iran pulling out of the deal....thus causing some huge US / Israel tension (and more nasty phone calls, at a minimum).

I am of the opinion that the reported nasty phone calls are very likely security theater. There’s been a lot of that going on in this war.

Im old enough to remember when Barak Ravid came out with scoops every other day about how mad Biden was at Netanyahu.

It’s a bit more believable coming from Biden since he has been active in trying to broker or push for a two state solution for decades. But if he did yell at him I’m sure it was more about Bibi’s inability to manage optics, feeding the US bad or haphazard intelligence, and not respecting international institutions in that order.

That it was leaked to the press definitely qualifies as theater, however.

All that paint has fried the last remaining braincells in your dome.

Netanyahu needs to continue this war in order to win re-election; Trump needs to get out in order to not get impeached after midterms. Netanyahu is going to win the Trump vs Netanyahu battle. All the MAGA chodes like to say how tough Trump is, but he always folds up like a lawn chair to any resistance.

However, perplexing as it is, if three options existed for you tomorrow:

- vote Trump
- vote Harris
- 9mm to dome

You'd choose, in order:

Trump
9mm
Harris

Weird

Graham flew to Israel multiple times to give coaching tips to Netanyahu as how to manipulate Trump. Yeah, all those guys were in his ear, but they're not as impactful as leaders of other countries are.

Trump doesn't respect Rubio or any of the other bitches in his administration, and I can't say I blame him for that - they hate him, yet sold and debased themselves for him in order to further their careers, and he knows this.

I think it would have to be a pretty sweet deal for Iran to pull out over Israel and Hez throwing more punches at each other. The IRGC has and will leave Hez out to dry and turn their heads away from Palestinians getting cooked if it risked any chance of them losing power. Their entire structure is built around that specific doctrine.

I give them their due respect where its deserved because they have been quite successful at propagating the narrative that they are fighting the honorable fight. That's their number one weapon.

But of course Bibi + Trump are definitely the ultimate wildcard and could potentially open up all kinds of magical doors for them.

The Lebanese civilians are most certainly at war with Israel because they are the ones at risk. Those are the only ones I bat an I eye for. The rest in power can go **** themselves.

maybe this is what is happening. but the narrative from the pro-Iran tweeters is that this deal is the work of the liberal govt.

According the once-venerable NYT, most of Trump's advisors with military and/or intelligence experience advised Trump to not go to war with Iran.

So, we're basically back to where we were before we started dropping bombs. Well done donnie.

by biggerboat

So, we're basically back to where we were before we started dropping bombs. Well done donnie.

Even if that was true (in terms of the agreements), it would be:

- Minus the entire Iranian navy
- Minus a dead leader and much of the leadership and military commanders 6 feet under
- Plus a wounded and cowed new leader
- Minus most of their missile stock and many production facilities (although they will rebuild over months - but it will take months)
- Minus nuclear weapon making ability (set back many months at the very least)
- Plus a world that now knows Trump is happy to kill or capture any leader he doesn't like - it's nice bit of spice for negotiations
- Plus likely a cowed and constrained Bibi

It looks like a much better world to me. Add in Venezuela and it's much much better world.
