Ukraine-Russia War Take 2
Here is what the preliminary take on the Ukraine thread disappearing is:

This thought crossed my mind but the two accounts posts in different manners. It wouldn’t be too far fetched if it was one person purposely using two different personas but I think the most likely explanation is just two guys subscribing to much of the same propaganda and misinformation.
It would also be an inordinate amount of time to be wasting on these forums.
How could you possibly be against Russia ?
They are just invading Ukraine to protect themselves ……
Actually they aren’t as efficient as in other parts of this world sadly right ?
In a thread that often devolves into a useless debate for people to air their ideological grievances, we can forget what this invasion and war ultimately boils down too for Ukraine, namely the bombings and war crimes imposed on non-occupied regions, and the atrocities and autocracy imposed on occupied regions.
There is no issue of greater political importance in Europe today than to ensure your nation gets the air defenses, ammunition, training, civilian aid and equipment it needs to make that stop. We know from history that fascist states like Russia are not stopped by pretty words or clever arguments. Sitting in a peaceful country and blaming the Russian regime and lamenting the fate of Russian soldiers is absurd, when it those soldiers who are the willing arms of the regime.
For the rest of us, allowing your country to fall with create a modern day Czechoslovakia of 1938. Like that occupation created the "the arsenal of the Reich", an occupation of your country by Russia would create an "arsenal of Russia", allowing them the geographical and industrial capacity to wage the other wars they have threatened. Basically, we would be inviting the atrocities you endure into our own countries. A selfish take, but a sobering one.

If Putin is allowed to succeed in Ukraine, he will start on the Baltics, and he'll go on from there until he's stopped, at God knows what cost so late in the day. As Wellington said about Bonaparte, 'A dictator must always be going forward, like a cannonball. If ever he rebounds, it spells the end of his career.'
Let’s not forget that we have been unable to get leverage on Russia to stop through sanctions because nations such as china, India and Iran are cynically supporting Russia.
I find it a little bad faith and disappointing that Euros get so upset at Trump for being too accommodating to Russia; and are willing to give these other actors a free pass for literally supporting Russia.
Russia 20% interest rates is not nothing imo .
They are more surviving then prospering .

They aren’t prospering. But I do find it very problematic the discourse is entirely about whether the US specifically is doing enough to support Ukraine, and is completely indifferent to all the crucial support Russia is getting from outside actors such as china, India and Iran.

Then the US is unwisely submitting to the influence of its power rivals, which is a dangerous course to take.

If India can play both sides and no one cares, why should the US hurt itself by taking a strong side?
It seems the real lesson to this is there is no downside to supporting Russia.

Sorry but are you taking the piss? You really comparing the likes of America to Iran and China and disregarding 80 years of geopoliticswhile doing so?
I absolutely condemn their support of Russia, see how easy that was?
Trump has shamed America in the eyes of the free world by cosying up to Putin. Utterly disgusting behaviour regardless of your repeated attempts at spin.
I have always advocated for a ceasefire and an end to the slaughter. ironically, its the liberals who want to continue sacrificing thousands of Ukrainians a week for Western Imperialism. the dehumanization that liberals show for Ukrainians (and Arabs and Muslims for that matter) is genuinely sickening.
the reason we dont have peace or a ceasefire, and will not have it for a long time, has nothing to do with liberals or western imperialism or anything like that. it's because the russian leadership can't accept ukraine as an free and independent country and is determined to turn it into a puppet state. and the ukrainians are not going to accept spending the next 100 years as one

bruv, they just sacrificed multiple generations of men to fight a proxy war on behalf of the Americans and now they are going to give up all of their resources to the Americans.
How long has Zelensky now been in power past the limits stated in the constitution? Has it been a year so far? I'm too lazy to Google it so I came here to ask the democracy experts.

I fixed your post for you.
When Ukraine was free it was choosing to align with Russia because, as we all know but some don't admit, the West was going to force Ukraine into permanent austerity and use it as a client state for cheap labor and resource extraction. Then a coup happened at the direction of the U.S. Since then Ukraine has not been free. Russia offered a better deal. Ukraine was going to take it, then the violent coup happened and succeeded in bringing a new level of illiberal politics to Ukraine.
Furthermore, if all Ukrainians were free to vote in elections (if they were to even happen I mean Zelensky is in violation of the constitution currently and the thugs who orchestrated the 2014 coup are not ever going to support democracy), meaning also the ethnic Russians who are also citizens of Ukraine, it would elect a government that leads towards Russia.
Did it ever occur to you that this fantasy you have, impregnated into your mind with pure propaganda, of a "free" Ukraine which decides to be pro West and anti-Russia, was always totally incompatible with liberal democracy in Ukraine just by simple demographics and popular opinion? If not, there is not reason it can't now for it is only simple common sense.

Churchill held power for five years beyond the normal constitutional limit, 1940-1945, due to the national emergency at the time. Ukraine can't hold elections under martial law. The US is peculiar in having such a rigidly ossified constitution, and such geographical immunity from the wars it wages on other people's territory, that it held elections as per the calendar during the World Wars.

youre so myopic you basically think america is the only country in the world. it's honestly narcissistic to think everything revolves around the us and other countries dont really matter or have their own politics
the us doesnt matter in any of this anymore and werent particularly important to begin with

You're talking bollocks.
this is braindead. ukraine would accept neutrality and no nato involvement in a heartbeat if it meant they kept the country and their sovereignty. but russia doesnt want to settle for that. they want a puppet state. that's the entire reason this war started and it's why it's going to continue for years
this goes for you too btw. please for the love of god stop thinking everything in the world is about the us. it's genuinely narcissistic

right America is the global hegemon and a genocidal extractionist state. it controls the Ukrainian political elite.

this is so american. youre so divorced from the rest of the world that you think everything is about the us and see everything through that lens
other countries are real places with their own politics and ideas. and the us matters much less than you think
UK have developed a cheaper way to take down Russian drones: 'Gravehawk'

So constitutions don't really mean anything except in quirky America. Got it. Instead of signatures to their constitution do they just have the Ukrainian expression for "jk"? The Union had a presidential election during the civil war 150 years ago. But Ukraine can't have one now because what? it's optional? Hardly a good precedent to set for a regime that came into power illegitimately. What about the language in their constitution saying Ukraine will seek NATO membership? That part is still in force even though the one about having elections isn't I suppose. What I can never figure out in such arrangements is if you can pick and choose which provisions in the constitution to follow, what is the point of having a constitution.
You see, this is why Ukraine can't get into NATO. They don't understand what laws and constitutions are. Anyone can just make a law. It's easy. It's the follow the law part that has always been so hard for them, evidenced by that the current regime arrived by the violent overthrow of a legitimately elected government (I know I'm saying this a lot but I feel like it's not registering).
Did Churchill come into power via a violent overthrow of a legitimately elected government, and did he murder and in other ways suppress his political enemies and disenfranchise the part of the population that wouldn't vote for him? Because that would be a much, much stronger parallel. And by stronger I mean useful at all for understanding what is really happening in Ukraine.
It's a shame that on such a popular poker forum, two users are spreading russian narratives, no worse than kremlin putin propagandists like solovyov, skabeeva, etc. about neo-Nazis in Ukraine, elections during martial law, and the fact that the Revolution of Dignity of 2013-2014 was inspired by the USA. It seems that the kremlin has reached 2+2.
