$50 - $1000 speedrun by end of July
Hey everyone.
I'm doing a little mini-challenge to motivate myself to put in volume, play better, and implement some discipline as I hope to speedrun a small start roll of $50 into $1000 before the end of July, which is a little over 2 weeks from now.
Right now my start roll is $50 and a couple of gems - screenshots of which are included.
Any money from leaderboards or rakeback/gem rewards will also count towards the goal ofc.
I have no specific bankroll rules but I will starting out with 2nl and micro MTTs, and moving up as I see fit. Most of my grind will consist of 9 tabling cash and including some MTTs that I think are good value while respecting my roll and acknowledging my risk of ruin if things don't go my way.
At the end of each session I'll post screenshots of my roll, gem count, and a couple little tidbits about how things went. There are 16 days left in the month and I'll be playing at least 14 of them.
Firing up my first session now. lfg.

Good luck—it’s no easy task. I managed to pull it off about ten years ago, though that was starting with $100.
Session 2:
I was circling the bottom 10% of my rungood today and nothing went my way besides winning some dumb little $2 tourni for like $24 and getting 9th in a $5 which both felt like nothing. Also came 10th in a tourni with $500 up top to finish off the day which hurt since even making top 6 would have put the roll over $150 at the end of the session. That would have been nice. The field was super weak and I was pretty confident that if I made FT and got the blind rollback that I'd have a legitimate chance to take it down but AJ < AQ with 10 left had other plans. I did miss one shove the hand prior when I folded J9s in cutoff with 8bbs. I should have shoved that but in the moment I prioritized surviving until the rollback instead since I was like 7/10 I think, but would have gotten 20bbs-ish if I made ft with that stack.
Got wrecked in everything else and even had to cash in my gems for a few bucks. I think I won a little bit from the spin leaderboard but it hasn't hit my cashier yet.
All in all, things could be going better.
Progress: $5.25/$1000
Overall I think I need to stop mixing formats and just stick to MTTs for now until I'm somewhat rolled for 10nl.
Rough idea from here on out is this:
Reg as much of a schedule of $3>mtts as possible and go from there.
Add $5mtts at $125
Add $10mtts at $275
Shot take 10nl at $350/stop 10nl if roll goes below $280
Go from there and cross fingers.
2nl and 5nl are too slow to have any impact on the challenge so I'm going to stick to MTTs and eventually 10nl+. If/when I get to $650 I'm going to see about 25nl and hopefully finish off the challenge that way unless by some miracle I'm able to lucksack some MTTs.
I realize this is very a very aggressive approach to BRM but it's meant to complete a 2 week challenge and is definitely not a long term strategy.
So ideally the path is:
MTTs within the above specified bankroll rules until roll is over $350
6-9 table 10nl with some select MTTs on the side until $650
6-9 table 25nl and maybe some MTTs on the side until $1k
Challenge complete. Life's good.
Hopefully day 3 is better.

Woohoo:
