Hi,

Half way through January seems like a good time to make a goals thread for 2025 to help keep motivation. Long term goal for year is to be beating low stakes comfortably - I'm not sure this is a mechanical/game theory problem rather a mental block when climbing stakes as I've attempted this multiple times in the past. I've setup a mini gym this year and decided to quit some time consuming non productive activities ( drinking, competitive gaming etc ). Two things that for whatever reason go hand in hand for me.

Here's NL graph and results from 2024 where I started in Jan and quit in April of last year. I also played some over winter. After April I got sucked into gaming and lost the motivation for poker, for like 6 months I didn't play at all. Also starting drinking a bit too regularly too on weekends and as everyone knows that has a profound negative impact on mental health and motivation. If I take anything from the year it's that I should have just played much more volume at 50nl and alcohol is pure poison for the soul. General anxiety and performance related issues overcame the drive to succeed. Rakeback I didn't keep track of but it wasn't hugely significant.

2024 NL Graph

Results by Stake

Here's the graph so far this year. I believe I'm up around 150e~ in RB

And results by stake

Sometime down the line I might make a discord server with the intention of helping people at struggling at micros as it's something I used to do regularly in the past, but if I do end up going that route it won't be a while and I want to be sure mentally I'm in a good place with a solid life routine. For now it's just getting into a good mindset and not procrastinating about moving up in stakes. Volume/Monetary goals are secondary to me this month. I've started some light training and bought a big dip station over xmas but I've yet to set it up 😃 I'll get to that over the next few days.

Light training ( once dip station setup will be able to do a lot more )

I'll try post some regular updates and some interesting/exploit type stuff when it comes to micro stakes. In my opinion there's not a tonne of good content out there for beginners or for people who are struggling to do well at the lowest stakes. Most of the content is too advanced and overwhelming and not super applicable to the meta of how people play down there. I'll try to follow most of the other NL threads on this forum as it helps keeps me motivated. GL on the grind!

Month update. Pretty happy with volume and results overall considering the stakes. Had Light exercise every day, still haven't gotten around to setting up dip station need to find a space for it but really need to push myself to set it up tomorrow so there's a bit of variety in workout shedule. No alcohol at all this month, I'm happy with that, wasn't even tempted. Bit of gaming on switch to chill out and watch some streams but nothing "competitive" and non productive that will wear me out mentally.

I barely played any 50nl. Took a shot a while back, was a trainwreck session lost good few BI in about a 100 hands. Objectively there was a bad hand in there and another questionable play(A5s 5b jam on broken hu table vs clicker), but the rest were just coolers. AK twice vs AA/QQ losing, and whale rivering a gutter vs an overpair in bloated pot. The hand below is foldable OTR, yeah we have trips but guys like this just nutted once they donk turn, even turn donk I knew I was dead but I was getting hammered so much already I had stopped caring by that point. I quit session after that hand. V just one of these guys who I perceive to be super nitty that donk pummels value and never has bluffs.

I'm not sure about this hand, I had quick look in solver and it does call river TxTh a lot with a certain combo but not mine. I like villains line it's just very hard for him to have bluffs by the river imo. The sim I checked he's meant to big bet turn IP most likely to fold out more underpairs. There's something about Kxx lockdown boards even pre solvers I used to think about a lot and when he bet turn for that size I was like in my head "you don't get to dictate this pot on this type of board", in all honesty river was just a FU call, was too steamed by that point to care. It's likely bad when flush completes. What bluffs does he really have by the river besides floated AQ, it's hard to think of many .. mayb some wheel Ax

This month I'll not play any 10nl at all, except maybe 5-10 mins to warmup if there's days I feel totally zoned out. I want to try play 50k hands with 20nl as main and get more sessions of 50nl in especially on weekends. There's def a physiological issue going on with attempting 50nl long term. There's some good players in the poole too, a lot better that what's below so maybe that's part of it. 10+20nl I can just play sloppy or borderline autopilot and still know what i'm doing vs pretty much every player in that poole maintaining good edge. Buddy suggested mental game coach if I run into problems again so that's something different to try when time comes. Objectively too I did run super hot at 20nl, that type of W/R ain't sustainable long term but 15bb might be if focused every session and playing good hours. On avg I played around 3hrs a day always at night.

I own GTO+ I found some great tutorials on youtube yday so that's something I can spend a good chunk of time setting up properly. 10/20 etc not really needed but 50 there's more structure to both pre and post so it won't hurt. Initially set up trees for BTN vs BB and SB vs BTN 3b and go from there I think.

Another main goal for Feb is maintaining better sleep schedule getting into a solid routine for meals. Sleep side It's a habit I need to break I end up staying up late watching movies etc and feel groggy as hell the next day. It effects mood a lot and obv don't want to be feeling tilty even before sitting down to grind. I think for the most part this month mental discipline has been good but besides that 50nl session but I immediately quit when I knew I had hit breaking point.

No drinking 😃

Gym sheet I already posted above, doing pretty much same work just slightly more reps and sometimes bit longer on bike too. Need that dip station sorted asap. Will update again in a week or two, gl to every one in February!

Nice to see you back. No change in your graphs I see 😃
GL!

Best of luck! Following!

I'll update end of month, still going! 😃

I am playing micros for fun from time to time.. I guess about 6k hands per month or something like that. I am too tired to play in the evening, as I am working 40+ hours per week and having family :-)

Good to hear vrbik, I remember the fun days of battling in the super soft stars zoom pooles! 😀

Another month over, time goes fast. I played too much this month but don't feel any burnout if anything the opposite in a lot of ways, things are much clearer and feel like from mechanical/technical point of view I'm playing better than I have ever been. No study just a lot of volume, I still believe this is the best way for most people to improve, getting into spots and thinking about what to do each street etc. Imo adapting/exploiting opponents comes first and theory after, at least in lower and micro pooles.

Poole I play in is very soft. The regulars there I feel are lost in some kind of poker space time continuum where they never evolved, the opposite in a lot of cases. From mental game pov, I have tilted stacks a lot of times over the month during sessions where I see regs do terrible fundamental things and I end up spewing my stack to them trying to force range advantage etc cause I can't believe the stuff they try to get away with. This is a mental leak I need to eliminate and have to just accept the fact they don't know any better.

Everyday for last two months I have kept up a little fitness regime, I wrote a few times I have some proper equipment around but I still haven't set it up, procrastinating too much. Still happy to be doing at least a little every day. Next month ill up the weights and bike resistance

Also hit 2 month sober mark. I saved a decent chunk of money not drinking and will buy a new gpu very soon for my pc. The new AMD series gets launched next week and looks great

February cash graph. Overall I won $3067 including rakeback

Next month I'm not sure what I'll do, go 50 full-time or just mix more on weekends etc with 20 to get more used to the meta. I only played 2K hands of 50 this month aiev 3.45 sample is meaningless though. On one hand I have a stake where I feel super comfortable and know I can grind out a decent amount per month but on the other I need to be challenging myself to move up in stakes and BR is more than deep enough now to do it. The whole goal is to get higher so I can play less volume for more $. On negative side my physical health hasn't been great since xmas, some stomach problems that I hoped would have sorted itself out by now abstaining from alcohol. Hopefully over March it gets better.

I said I'd eventually setup a discord server for people struggling to win at micros or just for discussing hands and general poker talk, I'll probably do that during March sometime and update the thread, until then GL anyone on this crazy grind and lets all hope for a solid March!

3067 at 20nl? That's sick. Gl for the future!

Welcome back nuxxx! Can you remember how long ago myself and ShellysAshes (sp?) were in a Discord channel with you?

Welcome back nuxxx! Can you remember how long ago myself and ShellysAshes (sp?) were in a Discord channel with you?

Would have been almost exactly 7 years ago! Kind of depressing to think about haha... Don't know where that time went I'm surprised it was so long ago

Good to see you, hope you're doing well?

Yeah crazy how fast time goes lol

Yeah doing well, haven't really played much poker since lockdown but starting to get back into it lately and going to Vegas to play in WSOP this summer 😀

Gonna take last week of March off so will update thread now with results. Def feeling effects of burnout lately so need a rest, played every day since Jan 1st.. Been a leak of mine since forever I don't manage time/breaks well but I feel a week to chill will have me in good shape for April.

Ignoring results because they were good and not to sound ungrateful or spoilt or anything along those lines, this month wasn't as easy going as Jan/Feb at all, def ran worse overall including 20k hand b/e stretch at 20nl that I seem to have climbed out of in the last few sessions, variance is ***** wild. Session after session all these <5% hands just drilling it but they're 5% for a reason and not 0.

50nl I played a lot more volume that I did in Jan/Feb, 15k hands ideally shoulda been more but still feeling out waters and meta there it does play a decent amount different than 20. There was a couple death sessions losing 8/9 BI so I dropped down to 20 to recoup a bit, I was getting sunrunned so hard it def felt overwhelming mentally at times it sent me spewing around in PLO streets a couple nights 😃 Just tried to reset and come back day after day and eventually it did even out with some calm and solid play, i'm happy with my evbb/100 but obv very small sample size.

Here's graph for March

Total $3,190 ~ with RB

Results by stake

Still alcohol free since Christmas, I wrote previous month I had some stomach issues it seems to be getting better, the last couple weeks it hasn't been on my mind at all so that's def a good sign just need to keep it up. Will hit 3 months v soon

Been keeping up little bit of fitness too trying to do a extra little each day. I've repeated 10 times prolly I have other equipment to setup with the better weather I should get around to it in April haha 😃

Ill setup discord server soon so if you're interesting in joining send me a DM here on 2+2 with a little info about yourself. Purpose of the discord is just general place for chatting poker and discussing hands and aimed at people struggling to beat micro/low stakes online. Even if you're new to the game you're welcome, all I ask is for people with a good attitude and work ethic. I talk poker with very few people so that's the benefit for me, just to vent and to weigh in when I can with advice on hands and general strategy/fundamentals. To be totally transparent somewhere down the line I might start offering coaching for micros, if I do I'll write about it here first and i'll make a thread in the coaching section but that won't be for at least a few months.

Gonna chill for a week now and try get some other things in order for April. GL on the tables!

This month started out great, in the middle I started to run bad and the past week or so mentally been struggling, after some bad sessions I ending up splashing in plo streets steamed up. Volume past 2 weeks not been good either. I managed to turn it around a bit but taking some days off now to hopefully have a clearer mindset going into May. Still positive with month overall I don't take winning 2K clicking buttons on the internet for granted.

Won't bore with details ran very hot start of the month then had two weeks where it felt like I could sit for hours with whales and when I'd finally get a spot somehow they'd end up some super nutted hand and they'd use a terrible river sizing that would force me to jam my strong value (nut flushes, sets etc) and then I'd get snapped off. Stars aligning constantly in the most stupid ways, no small/simple pots to win etc we all know how it feels. I can def admit over that period I haven't been playing well either and there's been a lot of tilt spews so mentally need a little break until new month comes in.

Graph below + 357$ in RB total $2002 ~

I've gotten sloppy with my exercise routine I don't think it's a coincidence my performance levels dropped so I'm going to put that right again in May and log every day as I was doing before. It really does make the difference in burning off performance anxiety to clear the mind before playing. Still Alcohol free, 4 months now! That's a huge positive for me, just like I said need to get into strict exercise routine again.

Gotta zone out from graph and look at bigger picture, since Jan 1st overall results have been great and still a long time left time in the year. Next month get volume heavy at 50 (i've got 30k hand sample now with 10bb/ev)

GL in May!

Incredible that you are still delivering consistently impressive results for so many years! Tbh your last month is great, do not be strict on yourself 😀 I doubt I have ever had such a good month 😀
GL!

Good month, played well overall and ran well. Taking last few days off this month to relax a bit

Rakeback + Winnings = $3462

Content with how things are going, played mostly 20nl this month with some short weekend sessions at 50. Still no alcohol, that's 5 months now.. time flies.

Will mention again have a discord setup for general poker talk/strategy just send me a dm if you want to join. Some more info in post #12 above.

I want to try update thread more regularly in June, haven't thought about content but might post some weird heavy exploit stuff that might be interesting/make some videos etc.

Best of luck in June!

Super sick results!

I'm currently hard stuck at 10nl. I've been beating it for 10bb over 200k hands, but lost it all back at 25 NL.

Doesn't let me send DMs on here for some reason? Maybe I haven't made enough posts or something. Anyway, I would be keen to join your Discord channel and chat hands. User name is antking69

Just WOW 😀 GL!
