Because it’s 2026 and you can’t even get some people to believe vaccines are real even though it’s part of our middle school biology curriculums. A large portion of social media users are bots and idiots.

This is part of it but its also that the amount of grifters and scammers in the west has reached critical mass. People are getting so used to attempted scams in every facet of society, from small time social media accounts trying to dupe you into buying sponsored products, to phishing scams on your phone and email, to pump and dump stocks, crypto scams and MLM schemes being marketed openly, all the way up to government officials all the way to the president utilizing inside trading and sites like Kalshi and Polymarket to manipulate real world events for financial gain.

People's base line reaction to everything has become "could this be an attempt to scam?" and rightly so. Not saying I believe this guy in particular is trying to scam his backers but the west is incredibly rotten at this point. If your base reaction to anything isnt "could this be a scam or rigged for someone's financial gain?" youre setting yourself up to get duped.

If you won 57k wouldn't you be watching cars behind you on your drive home? how dumb can you be?

Probably a few scams these days in the east too.

I think the main area of doubt comes from his social media posts. If it's just "fk guys, I got robbed at my bnb after cashing out but i'm ok, cops investigating, i'll get a wire next time lol" nobody bats an eye.

I've owned well over a dozen and all had cameras at all entrances to the house. I'd be shocked if the majority of airbnb's did not do this as to me its standard operating procedure

60% of airbnbs are SFHs, the other 40% are mostly private rooms (with some apartments, condos, unique stays like treehouses etc).

So, probably not the majority of airbnbs have an entrance camera... but I would agree it's common, especially among the SFHs.

Asian culture has over two millennia of deeply ingrained tradition proscribing greed, avarice, and financial chicanery.

I wouldn't have to I'd get a check/wire.
I'm used to having 10-20k on me from playing cash games. at most places I play I have a box. Other than Parx none will give a check from cash games.
But if I hit a tourney score I'm not taking 57k back to an airbnb.

This guy didn't deserve to get robbed and the robbers belong in jail. But there's nothing wrong with pointing out an incredibly stupid mistake he made taking it in cash.

A few years ago at Parx some random guy went on a blackjack heater and won 40k. He took it all in cash, got followed home and killed for it. The 2 lowlifes who robbed him lost most of it back to the casino and are in jail for life. It's disgusting that happened to him. But it easily could have been avoided if he had some street smarts.

The fact some people think "victim blaming" means we are saying the person who made a huge mistake deserved what they get is stupid. We should learn from the mistakes of others and try to avoid dangerous situations.

I remember a few years ago Boski won like 50k in some tournament. His vlogged about it and showed himself getting cash. I even commented it was stupid to take it in cash and on top of that to let people know that's how he likes to get paid. It's not even like he can avoid taxes by taking it in cash.He replied cash is king or something to that effect.

Then it's crazy how much fraud occurs at Chinese companies and how many scams originate in Asia.

Maybe their current social systems and governments incentivize fraud, lying and scamming
