2024 Fantasy Football Thread
Welcome to the 2024 fantasy season, where I'm officially addicted to best ball. I've been drafting since the end of Jan
They look fun. I saw someone post on X yesterday they had already maxed 4 hours after the contest dropped lol.
I'm ~12 drafts in and my mentality has been: if Saquon falls to 1.05 I'll take him. Hasn't happened yet (mostly because ~8 of my starting positions have been after 1.06).
JJ feels like one of those "slightly under-perform ADP or slightly over-perform ADP" players so a soft fade feels reasonable if you think (say) Gibbs has a chance to be tournament-breaking.
Yeah, provided JJ stays healthy, I think he'll be a fine pick, which is why I'm not full fading. He can also certainly be the guy you need in one or multiple playoff weeks. I just think the few players behind him have more upside to be bigger hits in .5 PPR scoring format, given the expected environments.
Have you been drafting on UD or DK?
UD just added another SF. $5 (20 max) with $10k up top.
Probably going to skip it though and just focus on the Puppy 2 and mix in some R&S.
Hell yeah, I was just about to post that. I’ll be maxing.
I wonder what the last two will be. I’m assuming one medium to high stakes and one single entry.
I’m trying to get 100 into every puppy and I’m slightly behind pace bc I was out of town last weekend , so I’ll probably hit the puppy and if other contests are still open when I hit 100 I’ll start drafting those
Meanwhile on DK
$50 (3 max) - $2k to 1st
Got a ton of ADP value on this one bc the room went qb crazy
Caleb, Ward, Shough
Henry, Pollard, Judkins, Warren, Shipley
Puka, MHJ, G Wilson, Flowers, Olave, Shaheed, Ayomanor
Loveland, J Ferguson, Chig
Pulled the 1.03 in my first two GS SFs. It's going to be a good one haha.
DK Milly exclusively so far but planning to get in some UD come mid-August and other DK non-millys
(I guess that helps clarify my Saquon at 1.05 take -- didn't realize Saquon was 1.04 on UD...he's almost always the 1st RB taken on DK)
Ya, Saquon is more engrained on DK than UD. He started as the 1.02 on UD and has gradually been moving behind JJ and Bijan, but I think he'll stick as the 1.04 the rest of the way. Though, there's a chance CD flips him. I think the lowest I've seen him go is 1.06, but it's not common.

Holy hell, Puka/Henry/MHJ/Wilson start. I don't think I have one of those on UD. This looks really good if RBs 2-5 pay off. You probably could have stopped at 6 WRs and gone another RB, but I get the Ayomanor click.
Yeah I thought about that after and realized I got locked on ayo bc I didn’t think I’d get Chig and then just kept him in my build. Definitely should’ve gone rb
W17 Titans vs Saints for all the marbles haha.
Gonna start drafting in about a week, don't like early drafting and have begun some light research...I play primarily on DK.
How are people handling TE? This group feels pretty gross after the top 2-3, even compared to other years
Assuming DK:
I was initially sour on LaPorta at TE4 but I've warmed up to him -- ADP is mid 4th but he falls to the 6th (yes) plenty.
Kelce at 5.02 feels way too high.
There are a few low-TE1s that I feel are fine in SnGs but am avoiding in top-heavy contests like the Milly. e.g. Engram, Andrews, Njoku could return value in SnGs (or redraft) but I don't see them giving you the occasional 25 point game (even if Engram did 1x-2x last season) that you want in large entry playoff weeks.
Other targets I like at price:
Kraft
Likely
Gesicki
Chig
Terrance Ferguson
Fades at price:
Kincaid
Jonnu
Colston
Jake Ferguson
Ertz
Yeah, DK TE prices are pretty inflated, especially for the the ones after the first 3. If I miss on the first 3, I'm generally not looking to take my first TE until past pick 100+ unless I get some ADP value (at least 3-5 picks past).
I'm watching Liam's stream from last night, and he was in a BBM with Sackreligious. He said "I guess their sims have decided that unstacked QBs is the way to go, is how I notice they draft. I won't be doing that. But computer says to do this, you know, gotta do it." Haha. Then he started talking about advance rates, player takes, etc. He said when Dan Zack was on his stream a few years ago, the sim work said that unstacked QBs was good. Sims aren't winning w17. I'll continue to think unstacked QBs are bad for actually winning.
I just fired these two Puppies.
Wish I had found a better TE2 behind Kittle, but other than that, I feel good about it.
Spoiler
Purdy, Stroud, AR
Omarion, Hendo, Jones, Rachaad, Tank, Chubb
Nico, Drake, Rome, Egbuka, Tre, QJ, ADM
Kittle, Higbee
Strong enough to stop at 6 WRs?
Spoiler
Kyler, Love, Bryce
Kamara, Hendo, Judkins, Tracy, Spears, Dowdle
Nabers, ARSB, JSN, Tet, Reed, XL
Ertz, Sanders, Theo
Maybe the sims are actually good for the game haha

Same. Either value or if there's some type of correlation. Love taking LaPorta on JJ teams.
I’m fading judkins unless he drops very far.
My thoughts on unstacked QBs
I think the best way to do it is to really lean in to stacking other teams and W17, but then taking a different QB. I could see a Reek/Bucky/Waddle stack + naked Kyler scoring highly.
Not something I'm ready to do at any decent clip, but not something I'd shy away from either, especially if I get a QB at value.
It wasn't long ago when it was common strategy to only play RBs and WRs in the flex in DFS, but now more players are winning with TEs in the flex, thanks to the sims.
Drafted my worst team in a while
Allen, Baker
Gibbs, Dobbins, Tuten, Blue, Sampson, Shipley
DK, Flowers, Godwin, Shakir, Aiyuk, Palmer, Wicks, NWI
Bowers, Goedert
For sure, I think it’s about value and about building other good stacks around them. Not taking 2-3 unstacked QBs at ADP, barely w17 correlated on the same roster. Which seems to be a common theme of the sims.
Like that second Puppy team I posted above. I ended up with unstacked Kyler, but he was 15 picks past ADP. I also had Love/Reed and Bryce/Tet/XL/Dowdle/Sanders with the JSN bring back.

You've got the Bowers Flowers power.
But yeah, I never feel good when I have elite QB and elite TE, but plenty of people swear by it.
Pop should have been a RB. Then I could've taken Coker over Sanders, and ended with 6 RBs.
Herbert, Bryce (12 past), AR
Barkley, Hampton, Henderson, Tuten, Keaton
Ladd, JSN, Zay, Diggs, Downs, Tre, Pop
Warren, Pitts, Sanders
