As most everyone knows, the current news concerning online poker is not good. In addition to the original indictments issued on April 15, 2011, another set of indictments have been issued this last week of May. However, we at Two Plus Two don’t think that everything is lost for US players, and The Engineer has started a Daily Action Plan for those of you who are interested in bringing this cause to Congress. See the top of each forum for the “Fight for Poker Rights” announcement and we hope that many of you choose to participate in whatever The Engineer suggests.
I also had a conversation with a knowledgeable person in our industry. I shouldn’t mention his name so I won’t, but this person felt that while 2011 is certainly not a good year for Internet poker, things should be much improved by next year. We at Two Plus Two certainly hope this is the case.
There will also be another important election in 2012, including the presidential election. I think it’s fair to say that our current government, and specifically the Department of Justice under Attorney General Holder, is not sympathetic to online poker. However, a number of the Republican candidates are clearly thinking in a more libertarian manner which should be a step in the right direction for our cause. We at Two Plus Two hope to have more in this area in the future.
As most of you already know, the WSOP is now started and our annual Two Plus Two Party will be in the Wynn Poker Room on July 7. If it’s not up already, there will soon be an RSVP thread, probably in our Las Vegas Lifestyle Forum, as well as a thread where the Wynn Poker Room representative will answer any questions that some of you may have. So we hope to see you there.
Finally, as many of you are aware, US player’s money held by Full Tilt Poker is still not paid back at the time of this writing. While we at Two Plus Two have no inside information, it’s our belief that these problems will be solved. But how long that will take is not something we have any information on, but we are watching this situation closely.
