Work continues on our next book, The Intelligent Poker Player by Philip Newall. At the time of this writing, the manuscript is close to being finalized, and then it’s on to final typesetting, proofreading, and then printing. So given this, we expect to have the book in late March or early April. Also, for those of you who are curious as to what this book is like, we’ll be running excerpts in our magazine for this month as well as next month.
Our Las Vegas Lifestyle Forum should soon become the Las Vegas Lifestyle Forum brought to You by The Las Vegas Advisor. These are the people here in town who know more about what’s going on in Las Vegas and where the best deals in town are, and they’ll be participating in this forum as well as other places on the website. In addition, we’ll be providing information on how to subscribe to their news letter which includes receipt of their Members Rewards Book — All Coupons which is literally a great offering and is worth many times more than the cost of subscription. We plan to have more information on this in the next few weeks.
One forum that I participate in is the poker Books and Publications Forum. It’s a place where posters can discuss all poker/gambling books including the latest that have been published. We also welcome these discussions whether Two Plus Two is the publisher or not, and while we certainly claim to publish top notch books in our field, we don’t claim to publish all excellent poker books. So this forum is the place where our posters can get this information.
However, we have noticed a couple of problems recently. First, this forum is not a place for non-Two Plus Two authors/publishers to conduct their business. Website links and announcement dates for when a book will be released are not allowed. For stuff like this, the author/publisher should be purchasing a thread in our Commercial Marketplace Forum. It’s reasonably priced and all necessary information should be allowed.
Second, when discussing a book or some of the material it contains, it’s important to describe what the book says accurately. Specifically, we do not appreciate posters who misrepresent what our books say and then go on to explain what is wrong with the material that they have misrepresented. It’s not fair to us as the publisher, and it’s certainly not fair to our authors.
On the other hand, if there is a concept in any of our books that you disagree with, that’s certainly a topic worthy of discussion. But be sure to accurately represent what the book actually says and the discussion should be worthwhile for everyone who participates.
