First and foremost, Two Plus Two is a book publishing company that specializes in books on poker and other forms of gambling. So with this in mind, I’m going to announce our tentative book publishing schedule for the rest of 2009.
First, on June 15, 2009, as was mentioned in last month’s "Publisher’s Note," we will release Poker, Gaming, & Life: Expanded Edition by David Sklansky. This is a reissue of David’s book with over 100 pages of additional essays. For those who read our Two Plus Two Online Poker Strategy Magazine, most of these additional essays will be familiar since many of them have appeared here, and a number of the new essays deal with no-limit hold ’em. Our Two Plus Two store should soon be taking pre-orders.
The next book, which we expect towards the end of the summer and which was also mentioned in last month’s "Publishers Note," is the new text by David Sklansky and Dr. Alan Schoonmaker. We still haven’t settled on the exact title, but in a few words or less it is about how to combine math, logic, psychology, and creative, "outside the box," thinking to produce innovative solutions to a wide range of problems.
Following this release is a new previously unmentioned text tentatively titled Pot-Limit Omaha; An Understanding of Winning Play by William Jockusch. We are working with the manuscript right now and my best estimate of release is probably the middle of September. For those interested, we have looked at a couple of other pot-limit Omaha manuscripts and had some discussion with a couple of other potential authors, but this is the book we have settled on. We feel it meets our standards of top notch information and I’m sure that many of you will be interested in it as well.
Probably towards the end of the year, we expect to release Analytical Hold ’em by Thomas Bakker. Thomas is from the Netherlands and will be our first non-US resident author, so Two Plus Two is continuing to become international in more ways. In the author’s own words, "Analytical Hold ’em is centered around the idea of range-based thinking which includes concepts such as hand reading, perceived ranges, and polarized ranges. With these concepts in mind, we analyze many topics in detail, including (but not limited to):
- Playing in three-bet pots
- Beating short-stackers
- Board textures
- The value of reads
- Playing against weak players
We have already seen some of this material and thought it was just terrific.
And finally, as already previously announced, the next Harrington book by Dan Harrington and Bill Robertie should be released sometime this fall. Much of this book will focus on the six-max no-limit games which have become popular on the Internet. And on our "Books and Publications Forum," in answer to this question: "Will your book address PokerTracker/Hold'emManager, in any way?" Bill Robertie replied: "Yes. There will be a section at the beginning on the best ways to use these programs, and pretty much all the hand examples will give relevant PT/HEM stats at the time the hand was played." So I suspect many of you will be real anxious to get this one and we expect it to be another terrific book in the Harrington series.
And finally, as mentioned in last month’s note, work on converting many of our titles to e-books continues. We expect to have the first e-book available through our Two Plus Two Store in the near future.
