As most everyone reading this knows, our next two books, Harrington on Cash Games: Volumes I and II by Dan Harrington and Bill Robertie are to be released this month. Both books have been delivered to the printer, and by the time that this gets posted (at the beginning of March) all art work should be completed. So all that’s left to do is to print and bind meaning that we now expect to have these titles available by the middle of March (which is about ten days later from what I said last month).
If you ordered from our site, you will have top priority and Poker Mike at our Two Plus Two store should begin shipping the day we begin to receive books from the printer. Amazon should have them in stock approximately one week later, and the big chain stores, meaning Borders and Barnes & Noble should begin to have them on their shelves towards the end of the month.
We expect both of these books to be huge sellers and have the type of impact on cash games that the original Harrington on Hold ’em books had on the tourneys. And for what it’s worth, I have read, as part of my publishing responsibilities, each book several times and can report that my no-limit cash game is now significantly better.
Speaking of poker books in general, our website is the place that drives book sales for virtually all books in this field. This is true whether it is a Two Plus Two book or one done by another author and publisher. We welcome vigorous discussion of the pros and cons of all books as long as the discussion stays professional in nature, and of course, the authors of any particular book in question are encouraged to participate.
This seems to work well and many non-Two Plus Two authors will tell you that participating here has been beneficial to their book(s) being successful. However, we do seem to be getting some posts which clearly are just ads for some particular title and don’t really discuss the content of a particular book. So when we see a post, frequently from a brand new poster that states, “Such and such book made a big difference in my results and I recommend this title for everyone” we will question it and probably take the post down. So you authors that have your own web sites need to inform your readers not to do this at Two Plus Two. Good quality discussion of the content is welcome, this other stuff is not.
And finally, there is one area for which I personally have very little tolerance. It is the misrepresenting of the content in a book, and then the explaining why it is wrong. Authors who do this on their own sites, and for which we become aware, will discover that www.twoplustwo.com is not as friendly to them as it is to most other authors and publishers.
