For those who don’t know, I have authored a new book called Real Poker Psychology. This is the first time my name has appeared as an author or co-author since 2004, and the last time I wrote my own book was in 2003. So it feels good to get back in the writing business and this text was a lot of fun to write.
I also think it’s an important work. During the past few years, there seems to be a whole new area of mental coaching that has gained a significant level of popularity. Well, if you read my book, you’ll see that my perspective on many ideas in this area is much different.
For more information, there’s a book announcement thread on our “Books and Publications Forum” and we expect to have the book available on Dec. 10. In addition, one of the articles in this month’s magazine, “Mental Toughness” is an excerpt from Real Poker Psychology.
We’re also experimenting with some book offers. The first one is centered on The Theory of Poker by David Sklansky, and it’s a great way to pick up this book as well as some of the other Sklansky titles at a great price. In the future, we’ll have similar offers for some of our other books and feature other authors.
On a different note, I do want to address something that Daniel Negreanu tweeted on Sept. 20:
Daniel Negreanu @RealKidPoker
@DrTriciaCardner @Joeingram1 @JonathanLittle he has a history of hating on anyone who writes books that aren't from his publication.
Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, on this website, non-Two Plus Two authors are welcomed to come on and discuss their books. What we don’t allow is self-promotion. But if you spend any time on our “Books and Publication Forum,” you’ll see lots of threads where the authors, as well as other publishers, are answering questions about their books, and this has been our policy since the beginning of this website in 1997.
